Does anyone know how reliable the 5.0 litre v8 engines available in the F150s are? As well how long do they last do they need alot of maintenance or no?

It's not so much the reliability of the engine as it is the transmission. It was a crapshoot. The 10-speed automatic transmission is a joint GM-Ford design, and they were so horrible, both Ford and GM swore they will never work together again. They recalled them at least once to fix transmission issues, and they still couldn't get it right.
This is coming from a traditionally Ford guy. I'd much rather get a V8 Tundra of a similar year than any consumer-grade, modern Ford truck.
