Newly retired, my wife and I are looking to purchase a used Toyota Highlander for our many roadtrips. I know that you love Toyota's for the reliability and longevity. What model year would you recommend purchasing for a long term retirement car that we plan to travel the country in? We are hoping to stay around the $30k range.
Thanks!

I'd stay away from 2015 and 2019 ones - as usual, the first year of a model update tends to have the most problems. Of course, these are tendencies and maintenance, driving style, accidents are more important. See link for model year comparisons:

Based on my experience, I'd also look at used Siennas - same powertrain, gas mileage, cheaper insurance, more room/luggage space, more likely to be gently driven.
