Hi: I'm looking at two cars and am happy for input/feedback.
2020 Camry, 65k miles, seller wants $17.5k
2015 Avalon, 57k miles, seller wants $9.5k
I intend to keep this car until the wheels fall off. Also, just realized the Avalon has 6 cylinders and it would be that much harder to work on maintaining it on my own.
I found two videos by the Car Care Nut that may provide useful information regarding the 2020 Camry and the 2015 Avalon. But something about the year, mileage and price of the Avalon you listed doesn't jive in my opinion. I searched Carfax for relevant Avalons and the ones priced in the $9.5 ballpark had typically around 157K miles not 57K miles, and the ones with 57K miles were priced closer to $19.5, not $9.5. Maybe a typo?
Anyhow here are the videos:

@avalon04 I hear ya; the Avalon I mentioned was from a Craigslist ad. The Camry was also from a Craigslist ad. I ended up buying the 2020 Camry. Clean Carfax, the owner only owned it for a few months, 3 previous owners. Carfax shows consistent oil changes every 3-5k miles. I've been pretty happy with the Camry so far.
Thanks for your response. I hope that you get many miles of reliable service from this vehicle. I hope also that you are inclined to watch the car care nut video on the Camry especially regarding his maintenance recommendations, ie using only 0W-16 engine oil in the 4 cylinder, etc.
@jxyooj71, 4 owners in the last 4 years? Wow, that would be a red flag for me and would scare me off since Carfax doesn't always tell the whole story, Anyway, hopefully, you got a good car.
I own a 2015 Avalon and love it. I previously owned a 2014 Camry with the 4 cylinder, I loved it. The 4 cylinder is easier to work on and gets better mileage. The 6 is more time consuming but doable as DIY for the more common things. Consider the $8k price difference, that covers a lot of maintenance and repairs. The price of the Avalon seems low to me and I am suspicious of the mileage. Check it out thoroughly if you consider buying it. Good luck.
I ended up buying the 2020 Camry.... I've been pretty happy with the Camry so far.
congrats! hopefully this will be the end of your car nightmares 😀
Well if you want the longest life go with the Camry
