Hi Scotty,

What do you think about the GMC Acadia as a longevity travel vehicle?

I look forward to hearing your answer

Thanks

If by longevity you mean long trips, sure they are comfortable.

Longevity as in lasting a long time ... no.

I would avoid it as a long-term buy.  GM quality has gone downhill over the decades but they keep adding more features and tech to their vehicles over the years to attract customers, and electronics is one thing GM is definitely not good at.  Plus the 2020 MY has the GM-designed 9-speed automatic transmission which has been problematic:  I can’t imagine owning that long term out of warranty.  I would look elsewhere.  You definitely don’t want to own this vehicle out of warranty.

Thank you

If you really like it (and can’t stand Toyota/Honda/Mazda/Subaru products) then I recommend just lease it while it’s under warranty.

If you want the vehicle so bad, just lease it and get it out of your system. You can see how much you need to repair. Never buy as a long term vehicle.

Thank you

Those SUVs are not very well made. GM electronics tend to go crazy as the car gets 8 or 9 years old and the car will likely start falling apart. They also have pretty weak automatic transmissions. If you're thinking about getting it for longevity, don't. Consider a Toyota Highlander instead - it is more expensive, but it's much better built will hold up really well over time with minimal issues.

Thank you

Plenty of better options available. The Acadias have always been plagued with issues and the new ones are no different.

Thank you
