I'm looking to buy one of these, do these cars last awhile? It's got 40k miles on it mostly highway with a 1.6 liter GDI turbo engine and dual clutch transmission.

Not a recipe for a long-lived vehicle, Kia's well-known quality problems aside.

Its a Kia/Hyundai product. One of the worst quality products on the automotive market. And you're looking at one with possibly the worst configuration possible.
