Hello. I have a 2020 honda odyssey with 55,000 miles on it. I planned on waiting a 2-3 more years til kids get older until I buy a truck, likely a used one. I had planned on getting a more current V8 f-150 or Silverado.
I can get a really good deal on a 2014 F-150, with the 3.5 eco boost, also 55,000 miles from a family member who had it since new and took really good care of it. I understand the V8 is more preferable to the economists. Would I be dumb to downgrade 6 years? Any worry about the old style steel bodies rusting? I live in the northeast where there’s a lot of snow/salt. Studs on the odyssey have done me fairly well so far, but find myself wanting the 4wd every so often.
Thansk,
I would sell the Odyssey and buy a Sienna with AWD.
Do you need a truck? Or a van? Or both?
Do you need AWD?
I would like to switch from a van to a truck eventually because I fish and hunt, and would like to have the off roaring ability.
My concern with the F-150 is the EcoBoost / Turbos, the direct injection, and possibly the timing chain.
If you are good on doing your own maintenance, maybe. But taking the intake off is time consuming.
A newer version of this engine switched to two chains, instead of one, due to the one chain stretching. The newer version also has port injection alongside direct injection.
Maybe wait until you can get a truck yiu really want? But it really depends on the deal too. How good is the deal?
