Scotty, getting ready to purchase a used 2020 4Runner, are there any particular areas to watch out for or to examine before purchasing? I know the 4Runner is pretty solid all around but wasn't sure if they any "weak spots" or problem areas. Thank you
I would suggest getting an independent mechanic to check it out before you put down money. Make sure the engine was taken care of and doesn't make any odd noises. There's no real big issues you have to worry about on those, they are really solid SUVs.

Keep in mind too, for a lot of the cars on carcomplaints.com the number of issues reported may just be a tiny fraction of the total number built so statistically may seem small. Nevertheless, you do gain some insight. Between that, the car forums for that vehicle, and asking here (with all our combined experiences) and your own research, you can make a more informed purchase.
Agreed. I have x amount of time to appraise/evaluate the vehicle. I want to spend that limited time focused on the things that are likely to be problematic and less time on things likely to be fine. Using the resources you mentioned helps me to make that analysis.

Being sold through Avis Car Rental sales. Was built in Sept. 2019 and recently passed 15k miles so its now up for sale. I'm a passable shade tree mechanic but have never worked on a 5th Gen 4Runner. Wanted to know of any issues specific to them. Appreciate the reply. Thank you
