I am interested in getting the 2021 Acura MDX in Apex Blue with a red interior, but I can not get it through my local Honda Dealer on my Island in the Caribbean. They tell me it will have warranty issues which the dealership does not want to handle. My only other option for a 7 seater SUV that looks as good as the Acura with dual exhaust (therefore balanced design) is the Mazda CX-9 (it's blue is much darker). I can not get it in the colors of the A-Spec 2021 Acura MDX, but it is the only vehicle that looks just as good as Acura MDX that is available in my country through a dealership. Should I still go through the hassle of bringing in the Acura on my own because I like it or should I buy the 2021 Mazda CX-9 which is right hand drive for my country, although it is not available with the colors I want? How do the 2021 MDX and 2021 CX-9 compare in terms of reliability and which one will give me the least trouble to own and will break down the least? A well known mechanic is telling me that I should import the Acura, it rides good and so on and that he can fix them. I just need to have my own supplies of parts on hand for servicing. Also, I read the 2020 Acura has a timing belt as oppose to the Mazda's timing chain is this true, should this be taken into consideration?
Here's a mechanical review of the CX9. It's an excellent vehicle if you won't be doing any off-roading (gravel is fine) as the reviewer shows. Look at this impressive CX9 'Carbon Edition' for 42K sticker! If I were you, I'd save the 15 grand over the Acura and take your family for a no worries vacation in a villa and yacht on the French Riviera!
