I accidentally overfilled my gas tank to the point where gas spilled out. If this is a one time thing, is it a big deal? Should I do anything fix any potential problems?

No. Once is not a big deal.

No, it’s ok.
always stop pumping when you hear the click, if you don’t you can ruin the canister/vent valve.

If the fuel spilled out of intake, spray 'contaminated' surface with WD40 to prevent potential corrosion.
