Hey, Scotty I'm a tech for a small town in south GA. I would like to tell you about a problem that I have never heard of in my 32 years of auto repair. I work for a local police dept and today I had a 2021 ford f150 with 5 thousand miles on it that would not start (spin over). After checking the battery and starter they were both fine. Then checking for codes there were none. I decided to tow it to the local ford dealer to fix it under warranty. You cannot put the truck into neutral unless the truck is running. You have to pull a hidden latch handle under a lower cover beneath the steering wheel with the key on hold the brake and pull the handle. This will allow the truck to be towed and release the electric parking brakes. You also have electric power steering when the key turned on. The best part is that the ford dealer called to tell me that the truck would not start because there was only 20% of the oil life remaining and after resetting the oil life the truck started. There is a recall to fix this issue.
excellent info!
Great job, Ford.

Well, good that it has a feature to help not burn the engine up.
Sounds like it really needed that feature, the thing must be burning a quart every thousand miles, or worse.
I think I will keep my 98', it is burning maybe a quart every 4k miles.
Is it a bug or a feature? I wonder this particular oddity is unique to police vehicles, F150 or otherwise. After all, many police vehicles do a fair amount of idling, which necessitates more frequent oil changes. You might want to contact a few municipal technicians in other towns or cities, and find out if they have encountered this, as well, perhaps not just with the F150, but perhaps with those infamous Ford Interceptors/Explorers, "the police carbon monoxide" machines that have poisoned enough officers to force class action lawsuits and the pulling of fleets, a few years ago.
an emergency response vehicle that refuses to move is an enormous bug! I can't even ...
True that, MMJoe! There's often an enormous gap between folks who design things, at a remove, and those cursed to live with poor design decisions made by others who are divorced from the realities of day-to-day experience.
typical quality on new ford garbage.... my grandma brought 2022 ford edge and have 1k miles on it and having tranny issue...... reminds me of jeep
