Hi Scotty,
I recently brought 2021 Toyota Highlander hybrid XLE AWD. I have a question. I normally start my petrol engine 2013 Civic everyday morning let it run for at least 5 minutes before I drive. What about the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine in the Highlander Hybrid? even though I start the car in the morning it does not start my petrol engine. I am worried that the engine will be worn. Should I be concerned? You are an excellent source for Toyota Hybrid-related questions. Love your channel and content. Appreciate your work and knowledge-sharing videos. Thank you. ![]()
No need to worry. Hybrid vehicles are designed not to start the motor until needed. To be honest, you don't need to idle your Civic either. Modern oil pumps are far more efficient than their old counterparts.
Drive without any worries and enjoy your Highlander! 🙂
Thank you 🙂
You are very welcome. 🙂
5 minutes of fuel x 365 days a year = ~ $25
No need to warm up the engines anymore.
