Both are excellent cars, I would go with RAV4, because the Honda Passport is overpriced and generally, Toyota reliability is better than Honda specially in the case of automatic transmission. 

Passport is larger and less gas mileage. 

Guess it depends on what you need to haul around.

I evaluated not too long ago these two SUV for a family member. Recommendation ended up being RAV-4 Trail (Canadian model). We purchased RAV4 - Canadian assembled, better value, substantial cash discount negotiated.

No disappointment so far, … it’s an appliance, after all. Local roads are currently polluted with RAVs. Passports, … hardly any. Reason???

Anyway, … Honda, generally, is having more and more problems with their fleet. I have two older Hondas. I experienced driving the latest equivalence of my two Hondas, … no contest, … my old Hondas are still more engaging to drive then their new siblings, … and that’s after more than 10 years of usage! Period. Your evaluation may end up different, …

If you would have said Pilot vs Rav4 then I would have said Pilot but the Passport has some issues engine transmission etc. it is like the Odyssey I woul really consider the Pilot because the Rav4's ride comfort and quality is less than you would expect. Passport is a NO for me, but consider the CR-V, Pilot, and Highlander.
