What are your thoughts on the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek getting the 2.5L H-4? Is their CVT transmission a good choice? And is modifying them pointless? Looking for a new vehicle to haul around a couple kayaks and do some trail riding.

@ary1981
You might want to wait until you hear from SK, I think he has issues with them.

I've seen some of SK videos where he says avoid the cvt/Subaru all together, and some where its a good car. And I've really enjoyed his newest ones on the history of Subaru and the Boxter engine. I know that Subaru has greatly improved over the past few years.. Ive got a little time before I make my next purchase, so I'll definitely wait for a response. Thx!

Biggest complaint people have had with the Crosstrek seems to be lack of power with the 2.0 engine, the 2.5 should help quite a bit with that.

@chucktobias
Yes, I know its been one of the #1 complaints. I also like the fact that the Crosstrek is lighter than the Forester, so the same 2.5L has less weight to haul around giving it better performance #s. Thx

Really sharp looking cars!

I'm thinking the CVT is the same one as the larger Outback.

So, it will have less weight to strain it.  Probably last longer.

@carlos
Yes, im pretty sure its the same. Another reason I'd choose the Crosstrek, along with the fact that the 2.5L has less weight to move around. Thx.

Sometimes it's best to buy the car you want.
Toyota's will last longer. But satisfaction is a big part of the value.
Lol. Just look at all the people pouring money into Jeep Renegades.

@carlos
Ain't that the truth! Saw 3 of them broken down in the woods in the past month!
