2021 VW TIGUAN SE 4MOTION / 6,000 miles (has not had 1st oil change)

I'm just not one to trust the dealer for oil changes nor do I want to pay that premium price....

It calls for the VW 508 oil type. What does this refer to 0W20?
What Brand of oil would you recommend for the VW?

Also, the dealer said that VW only recommends changing every 10,000 miles or once yearly.
I'm not a fan of this guideline. Wouldn't 5-7,000 be better for the longevity of the motor?

1 year/5k miles is the maximum you want to go between changes, regardless of oil type. VW, and other dealers, tell you otherwise so you'll be buying a new car once your warranty is out and the problems begin.

Check your oil cap or owner's manual. That should tell you what viscosity you need. I'd recommend full synthetic for best protection. Brand is not important, so you can use what is cheapest or what you like. I use Mobil 1 myself and it works great, but again, any full synthetic brand will do the job.

On the sticker under the hood it just says VW 508 00.
Thanks for the information though!

Find the viscosity in the user manual. If you do not have it, you can download it via the following link:
