How to maintain my 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

Hey Scotty,

I took delivery of a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring on 4.28.2022 from Norm Reeves Honda in North Richland Hills, TX. It currently has under 1300 miles on the odometer, and it is an automatic transmission. I have not yet purchased a scan tool but I will in the near future. Can you please tell me everything that I need to do to keep my car running as long as possible? Oil changes I plan to do every 5k miles, I think you said something about changing engine fluid every 50k miles, You also mentioned changing timing belt every 100k miles, and lastly since it is a Honda I believe you stated to change the valves? But I forget how often or when? Love the channel.

Thanks,

Eboni T.

First of all, congrats for your new purchase.

Your car has a timing chain, so you don't need to worry about replacing it.

Follow the maintenance per your car user's manual. Change the oil and filter every 5k miles or once a year and change the transmission fluid every 40k miles.

Congratulations!

I’ll just add, use full synthetic engine oil (any name brand) and a good quality/OEM engine oil filter.

For transmission fluid, stick to the OEM Honda CVT fluid and change it conservatively (maybe every 30,000 miles).

Replace the brake fluid every 3 yrs or so.

The factory coolant should be good for a while, you shouldn’t have to touch it in the near future.

All fluid specifications should be mentioned in your owner’s manual.

All the best!
