Hey Scotty, I finally listened to you and traded my 2015 Dodge Charger SXT with 130k miles that was falling apart for a brand new 2022 Camry LE with the 2.5L engine with only 7 miles on it. Do you recommend and oil change at 1k miles and then every 10k miles? What maintenance and at what mileage should I do to make the car last 200k-300k miles. Thank you 🙏Â
Change your oil every 12 months or 5000 miles. Do whatever comes first. I would not change the oil at 1000 miles.Â
Read your owner's manual maintenance section and divide all the mileage intervals by 2. If it says change your engine oil an filter at 10,000 miles, do it at 5000 miles. If it says change your transmission fluid and filter at 60,000 miles, do it at 30,000 miles, etc.
Change your engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles (or less), usually the air filter can wait (if it’s not super filthy)
Change your transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. (Or less. It’s best to use OEM fluid)
I recommend avoiding additives.
Do not forget to perform any additional maintenance required (coolant, brake fluid, spark plugs, …) it’s best to do it more frequently than the manual suggests.

Do all the maintenance and keep all of the records required in case you’ll need warranty service.

Quite honestly, the main thing you should do to make it last - is driving moderately to avoid causing unnecessary wear.
On recent previous generations - the first thing to wear out was almost always the transmission (both on older ones with defective TCs and on modern ones with solid TCs) Make sure you maintain yours properly and don’t put too much stress on it.
Change the oil every 5,000 miles. Idk about the 1,000 miles thing since I’ve never bought a car brand new. But change the oil every 5,000 or 6,000 miles and don’t listen to the crazies that tell you to wait until every 10,000 miles on oil changes. And ONLY use 0W-16 oil. Transmission fluid should be changed every 40-60k milesÂ
