Scotty - My daughter's getting married and I want to buy her a 2022 Highlander as her wedding/graduation gift. Thing is that I'm not sure whether I should even look at the hybrid model. It tends to be more expensive although that is offset by the better gas mileage. My #1 concern is long-term reliability as I trained her well and she'll drive this vehicle for 10-12 years!
Thanks
Steve Arnold
Although a 2022 model is only a few years old there's a good possibility with a hybrid if she expects to drive the thing for another 10-12 years that it will need the hybrid battery replaced at some point during that time, so factor that potential cost in. You also need to have a good mechanic, preferably a hybrid specialist, give it a thorough pre-purchase inspection including an analysis of the battery's condition. (Even if not a hybrid any used vehicle of course needs a thorough inspection before purchase.)
@chucktobias Thank you. We're gonna go with the V6!
