My son intends to buy a used Kia Sorento from a Kia dealer with 36,000 miles on it. From watching your videos I would think that this would be a mistake in terms of parts failing somewhere beyond 80,000 miles. Do you think that buying this Kia will end up being a big problem down the road?

Yes. Scotty has repeatedly warned against buying those cars. They are well known for catastrophic mechanical failure.
