Hi Scotty , I love watching your videos on youtube ... Our 2023 Lexus ES 350 has automatic , 19,000 miles . When we start it up , it runs rough for a couple seconds then runs smooth after that . I have taken it to the dealership , they told me that there isn't any codes and they can't find anything wrong with it . I just have a feeling that they are not taking the time to go through it to diagnose it properly . What do you think can be the problem ???
Have you maintained the engine oil with 5K mile changes using the correct viscosity oil (0W-20)? Dirty oil or higher viscosity oil could cause low oil pressure at start up to the variable valve timing (VVT-i) components which would prevent the VVT-i from properly positiong the camshafts thus affecting engine timing and causing rough idle until sufficient oil pressure is achieved.
What do you think can be the problem ???
A lot of things. It's the kind of thing that needs to be diagnosed hands-on with the proper tools. Guessing will only be a waste of time and resources.
they can't find anything wrong with it
Sit in the car with them and make sure they feel the roughness right along with you.
there isn't any codes
No codes doesn't mean no problem. Everybody knows that.
Dealers hate warranty work, so they will make various excuses to weasel out of it. Unfortunately, you just have to be unrelenting and keep pressing them. They've done it thousands of times so they know all the tricks, but you just have to be difficult.
