2023 Tacoma surging, bucking, dealer cannot find problem

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2023 Tacoma double cab, 3.5 v6, 4wd that has a surging, hesitates or bucks/cuts out while cruising at same speed, light throttle and under light acceleration? Truck now has 2,500 miles on it, started at around 400 to 500 mileas. Dealer plugged in the computer while on a drive along looking at the telemetry and nothing jumped out, although the mechanic noticed the hesitations, surging, cutting out during the drive. Another word or sensation to the problem is misfire, without any noises. Reflashed transmission and no changes noticed. Dealership thinks it is the transmission...maybe, hence the reflash. Frustrating! Also drove a Tacoma similar with the service manager and their truck was good.  Help.

PS. Could it be a vacuum leak and would the technician have seen this during a drive along?

Kind regards,

  1. David.

Hey it's their problem. They sold you as a car. Give it back to him and tell him you want your money back under the lemon law they don't fix it. So many things to do that. It makes your head spin. Obviously it's a got a problem. Let them fix it and their mechanic doesn't give a crap because if you took it for a ride and analyzed all that data he would have hundreds of pages of data to go through to see what's wrong and he's either too stupid or too lazy to do that

Thanks Scotty. I do plan to take it back until resolved and escalate it to Toyota if the dealership will not troubleshoot it. After half a dozen trips I will leave it there until resolved. ..Great videos, keep up the good work.
