How should I change my oil

I just bought a brand new 2023 Toyota Rav4. I have 3 free oil changes with the dealer. Should I do my own or go somewhere else? Can I trust the dealer because I hear the oil they use is crap, assuming they do it right.

Welcome new member. I like your thought process; it’s good to be skeptical of dealer service. In this case, it’s a good time for “trust but verify” - after the service, check that the oil level is full and that the filter and drain plug are snug. Also, I’d probably go in every 5000 miles regardless what they recommended. Otherwise, sure, use the free ones and then take it yourself from there.

Just do these 3 and save yourself some money

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

I hear the oil they use is crap

I'm sure the oil is fine

I wouldn't trust a dealer with the time of day, let alone change my oil and filter.  Like @mmj said - "If you want something done right, done it yourself."
