- It appears fragile and less than protective?
- would you feel right in buying it? I can see the radiator clearly!

The grille is the least of the problems you're likely to experience with a Hyundai.

My 1979 Pontiac has a grille made of plastic as well. The whether or not the radiator being shielded adequately should be the least of your concerns. They're notorious oil burners right now, and they won't do anything about it. 1,000 miles per quart is "normal". Not to mention they're easy prey for car thieves. Hyundai is just making lousy cars right now.
Yup. Kia was just in the news again. Apparently thefts are still rampant.
