‘21 VW Atlas SE VR6 at Dealer going on 22 days

Scotty, my ‘21 VW Atlas SE VR6 with 18,419 miles that I bought brand new has been sitting at the dealership going on 22 days now with a dead fuel pump. Died on me and my 3 year old daughter on the interstate with no warning. The only strange thing I noticed was when I parked on a left to right incline the night before I knew I had over a 1/4 tank of fuel left. When I got in the next morning and started it up the low fuel light was on. While driving the gas gauge slowly increased back to over a 1/4 tank. I figured it was just because I was parked on the incline and fuel had sloshed around. Next thing I know I was calling for a wrecker.

Have you heard anything about VW parts shortages? Every dealer I call can not even estimate when they will get a fuel pump or any other part in.

Wondering if and when it’s finally fixed if I should get rid of it. Already submitted buyback paperwork to VW corporate but banking on being denied.

1.  Never buy anything made by VW again.

2.  Never let your fuel level get anywhere near 1/4 tank, it is the kiss of death for in tank fuel pumps.  Since they are totally enclosed electric motors, they rely on the fuel to cool them and keep them from burning up, in your fuel tank.
