22 Civic Hatchback

Wanting to get opinions on the 22 civic hatchback. Specifically I’m looking at the sport, with a manual, but they seem so rare as of right now. I have a dealer that said they have one allocated to them for the middle of March, but I’m not sure if it’s a good buy. It’s for MSRP, which seems to be a decent price in the current market.
should I instead pony up more to get a higher trim with the 1.5L, or will the 2.0L be the safer bet.

I would get the NA 2 liter engine. The 1.5 liter engine has turbo and won't last that long.

Here's my statement based on your question.

Just to summarize, I would get the the 2.0L engine so you have less problems than a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine in the future.

Whichever way you go, change the oil every 5k miles and you'll be fine, and change the trans fluid between 30-40k miles, it's really easy. Obviously the 1.5 will have a bit more zip with the turbo and the issues any turbo car has, but the 2.0 will have the longevity for being NA.

At msrp is a good price in this market for that car. Here's a video below from scotty on the newer civic and the turbocharged engine. The 2.0L engine is better but I wouldn't mind the 1.5L either if you like the other options that come with the higher trim.
