I m' plagued with the bad design of this engine (internal water pump) is there anything more I can do besides run synthetic motor oil and change coolant to extend the life of this engine ... Regards John

Don't buy a Ford with this particular engine.
OP already owns such a vehicle.

just change the pump + seals often, unfortunately.
It will be costly, but not as expensive as a new engine.
