I just got my Ford Focus back from the dealership after a little over 3 months waiting for a TCM replacement. The dealership told me I was SOL because my battery was no longer good. The worst part is the car shutters in low gears . It does not idle right and when it was in drive and I took my foot off the gas while in car wash the blow dryer pushed the car backwards. I need help Knowing what to do. I did not leave off well with the service manager when they told me I needed to pay $200 for a battery .
As far as the wait goes, it sucks but that is actually getting to be the norm with everything these days.
Now, I know you know in hindsight that paying $200 for a battery was probably not the best move. No point to go on about that.
As for the other problems, it could be the TCM needing to learn your driving habits. That takes quite a few miles to do, so I wouldn't freak out about it just yet.
I assume it's a Powershift so "just driving it and letting it figure it out by it self" probably will ruin the clutch.
I should clarify: I wasn't suggesting driving it an extended period as is. If it is learning habits, it should improve gradually. But if things stay as they are past a couple hundred miles with no improvement whatsoever, there is an issue and I wouldn't drive it further. Unfortunately, the Focus is a cursed car with those transmissions as is well known. If it is a Poweshift trans, it is likely these issues will continue as those transmissions simply do not work.
