Hi, Scotty
I'm looking for a good SUV with a $40,000 budget.
These are options:
1. 3 year old Lexus RX 350L (About $35k)
2. New highlander XLE (About $40k)
3. Acura MDX base (About $40k)

I agree with reddevil1321. You will buy a brand new Toyota which can last a really long time and also you get the Toyota warranty on that which is good. One more thing: It seems you consider buying used cars too, so why not buying a used Highlander and save some money?

Unfortunately, what some recommend (Toyota Highlander) has significant issues with the 8-speed automatic, especially when towing or heavy load use, or when driven by maniacs. And don't forget the massive recall on fuel pumps that Toyota has no fix for ?

I'd say hold-off on the Highlander a year or two, give Toyota a chance to fix the problems and make it more reliable ?

The definition of "good" and "bad" for cars changes every day or so, so pay attention to current events and be careful what you buy.

And whatever you do, never believe anything you read in any forum.
