Hi everybody Im freaking out about getting a new car I think Ill end up making a first monthly payment on the loan from the bank before getting the car. I started out looking at Honda/Toyotas SUV and got set on Highlanders. It didnt even dawn on me I have 3 kids and that they deserve more that one row. When you look up Highlanders year by year theres always something to make me second guess buying one. I posted some of the bad reviews below thats just 2022 Highlander. 2018 and every other year has its own set of problems. Im thinking I should rethink my search here. I think I should get a 2024 with very little mileage and upgrade the base warranty if its worth it. I never had a warranty before but Ill see what an upgrade does and read the contract any advice on upgrading the factory warranty or leaving it as is.
So Im looking at no Korean junk, No american junk, no CVT, non interference engine, no turbo/supercharger,
I think that leaves 2024 Tiguan, 2024 Pathfinder, 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander (CVT tranny so thats off the list), Honda Pilot, Expedition, Dodge Durango.
Its looking like the only 2024 I can get for the 30k firm price range is the Outlander or the Tiguan, the Outlander is outlandishly out of question because of the CVT. I dont care how cool it looks, its always finding a gear I dont how much better they have improved they are all junk.
So its looking like Im stuck with the Tiguan 2024 and can use warrant if anything goes wrong and just get rid of it when the warrant goes out.
This is instead of getting at 2022 Highlander or 2020 Highlander that is either out of warranty or will be very soon. I did find a 2022 Highlander at 14k miles which would leave coverage for powertrain 46000 more miles.
i looked at tiguan junk.
i think im going with honda pilot 2022 low miles. look for one made at end of year to get most of out warranty.
please help i can cash app 5$ for good answers
The front pumper and skid plate became loose which
I thought Toyota Highlander is one of the best cars on the market after I bought one cost me over $50,000 the recall on it and the performance is terrible and the recall on it the dealer does not know what to do and it’s been three months and they have not even contact me to fix the recall, putting myself and my family in danger because the dealer the Toyota dealer does not know how to fix a recall. I advise everyone to be careful buying TOYOTA.
Worse vehicle ever
Worse vehicle I have ever had for road noise and wind noise thru the windows, seats hurt me very bad. After 30 miles I have a headache from the noise and hard to walk from the cheap seats. $51,000 piece of junk. My Ford 4 wheel drive of 20 years has no road noise or wind noise with almost 200k miles.
Puckered Seats - No Dealer Support
The only reason I give the Highlander any mark over 1 is because it seems to be solid and has a smooth ride. The downside is the second row leather seats have puckers in the leather, the dash cam does not work with Toyota's app, the financing was deceitful, and any support from the dealer, Cumberland Toyota, is non-existent. The dealer says the puckered seats are "within tolerance". I did not know there is a tolerance for puckered seats. In my opinion, a flawed product is a flawed product. The dealership and Toyota need to take responsibility and resolve the situation. The dealership has no idea how to correct the dash cam issue and is not even trying. Once I drove the Highlander off the lot, they've not contacted to resolve this issue. They should research it with Toyota and get it resolved but I little faith that they will. I could go on about other minor misunderstandings but I think you get the picture at this point.
2022 Highlander Poor Gas Mileage
Poor highway gas mileage. EPA is 29; getting 23.5 in econo mode. I realize I most likely won’t get 29 and expected closer to it than 23.5 which is only 2.5 over city miles. Getting 20.4 average in city according to display. EPA doesn’t test every model of car and largely relies on manufacturer testing and reporting to EPA. Manufacturer usually contracts with independent tester. Some fudging going on by Toyota? Could be issue with car. Taking it to dealership tomorrow. Was told by a service writer early on when I called the dealership to give the car some time over a span of 4or 5 gas fills so it could get used to my driving style. I find no reference to that in owners manual or on the net. Didn’t help.
Toyota Highlander 2022
I have a problem with my Toyota Highlander 2022 that when I turn on the A/C with the windows closed, all the bad smell from outside on the street that is in the area enters inside, and I have the A/C window closed on the console so it does not suppose to enter the outside air to inside the vehicle. my mechanic told me on other vehicles has that problem with the recirculation actuator, but I took 3 times to the dealer and they said everything it’s ok 🤦♂️
Too new for these issues. Please help me.
I am a 75 year old person and I bought it because I thought it would be safe. After 1 year it starting to have issues. It is poorly made on the inside and now the AC hose has come off and you have to take the entire console off to get to it instead of a little side panel. Very inconvenient. The floors on the right side are soaked and it is too cold to dry,. I do not have a garage so have to purchase a small fan so no mold starts to grow. I Hope. I paid all my savings for that car and I did not even get a cd player in it and no one told me when I purchased it. I cannot afford to pay for play service. Toyota has only one place they repair cars in Anchorage and are booked solid and do not have loaners or rentals any more. Very inconvenient. I cannot afford to pay for a rent a car or taxi. It is getting cold out and I need to take my child to school and to home. I really need someone to help me. Online I see that very many people have this same issue so why is there not an easy fix or a recall? Please help.
Would you consider a Sienna? It’s a 3 row. While it isn’t as sexy as an Highlander or SUV, they are usually a little cheaper. Heck, I believe some models of Highlander and Sienna may share the same powertrain.
