Hey Scotty!
I have a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V8 with 220,000 miles. The car runs perfectly, but I am trying to decide weather or not to change the transmission fluid. I know that you have said to change it every 30-40k miles, but I have also heard people say not to change it if you dont know when it was last changed.
I am also wondering if I would need to buy genuine Toyota fluid, or if other synthetic fluids work just as well.
Any input is much appreciated,
Eddie.
It's a good idea to just drain and fill - do not flush it out. On my Toyota, I like to stick with the OEM transmission fluid so the transmission lasts as long as possible. For stuff like engine oil and coolant it doesn't really matter, but for transmissions I suggest going with OEM regardless of what car it is.
