2004 4Runner Transmission started to go out

Hey Scotty, I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with 180k miles, I bought it used with 145k miles and recently my transmission has started to go out and soon I'll need a new one. Sadly I didn't understand preventative transmission maintenance until it was too late and it started acting up with really old fluid in it. When looking for a new one, in terms of cost and quality, would it be better for me to find a used transmission with low mileage or buy a completely new one from Toyota or Aisin? Also can driving with a bad transmission cause anything else to wear quicker or break? Thanks!

what the generally are pretty good transmission if you could find an actual low mileage transmission just realize the junk yards often lie about the mileage on their transmission which are just sitting on the ground inside
