Is my car still safe to drive? My brakes went out on me after getting it back from a friend, and apparently it went 15-20k without an oil change. A brake pad fell off and led to a caliper dropping a lot of fluid suddenly causing no brakes to be applied. It has new rotors, pads, crankshaft, and a new alternator I installed a year ago. New oil, but the mechanic said It might be a chain issue.
Its an 05 4runner limited v6, with about 170k.

Well if it went that far without an oil change. Just obviously done some internal damage till the engine. And engines are extremely expensive to either rebuild a replace. I've had people in that position before and they went. Got a used engine and it worked pretty good then
Would you say its still ok to drive for a little or should I try to find other way around in the time being? I plan on having a full inspection done soon, but I'm short enough on money a used engine and a swap would likely be out of my range
