What’s up, Scotty? I was looking at buying an early 2000s Ford Ranger. A lot of the Rangers I see around the $5,000 price tag are 4x4 which I know are expensive to repair. I noticed that in these trucks they have a switch where you can flip from 4WD to 2WD. I was wondering if I could spare wear and tear on the 4x4 components by only using 2WD? Thank you.

If it's not raining or slippery conditions then you normally drive it in 2wd. Engage 4wd when necessary, or to periodically engage it to exercise the 4wd mechanisms.
Bet, thanks fo nem🙏🏽
