Well it depends on your budget and what you're looking for.

I can think 5 reliable or decent SUVs to buy:

1. Toyota RAV4/Highlander

2. Honda CRV/Pilot

3. Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon before 2006

4. Lexus RX 350

5. Up until 2012 Nissan Pathfinder (switched to crappy CVTs after that year)

5 SUVs not to buy:

1. Any modern Chevy/GMC/Buick

2. Any modern Jeep

3. Any European vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover etc.)

4. Ford explorer/escape with ecoboost engine

5. Dodge Journey
