I'm getting ready to retire. I'm looking at buying a fun vehicle to buy. What is you opinion on which of the following cars would be best and most reliabe.
1) MX5 2) Toyota 86 3) Honda Civic SI 4) Mazda 3 turbo 5) New turbo Corolla hatch

Depends on what you look for. If you consider manual transmission, the Honda Civic SI and Miata are good options. You may also consider Honda S2000 if you like roadster type.
Will this be your only vehicle or a 2nd car (weekend car)? If it’s a weekend vehicle go with the Mazda Miata MX-5. The Honda Civic Si, unfortunately, only comes with the 1.5L Turbo I4 which had previously experienced oil dilution. Jury is out if Honda truly fixed it and long term how that engine holds up, so I would avoid that.
For retirement out of these choices.
The most fun IMHO would be the MX5.
The Toyota 86 isn't a bad choice, it is basically a rebadged Subaru BRZ.
