I have a 86 Nissan 720 ST standard transmission with 282000 miles and it’s been sitting around for a while and I don’t know if I should still keep it and do repairs on it.

So long as you can get parts, still very economical and cheaper to drive it till the wheels come off as selling it wouldn't give the same return as the time you'll likely get in driving. Also assuming you do the maintenance as paying a mech to repair even simple things would cost more than it's worth.
