Hi Scotty Good Morning, I've been a fellow long time YouTube subscriber for years and finally submitting my first question so I'm saving up to buy a fast powerful reliable car in this case happens to be a Dodge Challenger SRT 8 low miles 40k & under mileage 2008-2012 within my budget that usually go from anywhere from 20k-30k? What is your opinion on those 6.1L - 6.4 L V8 ? Is it a good deal ? Are they reliable ? What are some potential issues i can expect? Which model years are the most reliable with fewer problems? Which model years are more problematic ? Whats your advice? Thanks have a blessed day
They are not that reliable but probably not horrendous like the other Fiat products it could be OK for 100k miles but keep in mind that the company is owned by Fiat and almost always the engines blow up.
But look for common problems by clicking here and have a mechanic check it out before purchase because that is a lot of money at stake.
Thanks really appreciate it I'll look more into it and continue doing some thorough research before pulling the trigger on one once I have the full cash amount.
As a play car, yea good. As a daily no. Cam, lifter and valve seat wear not good. Let engine warm well after start before loading it (driving) will help with longevity of engine along with quality oil and frequent changes. So as a weekend play car you warm up thoroughly before having a fun weekend, a good choice for the feel of old American muscle.
Thank you really appreciate the helpful tips & advice will surely take into consideration when making a purchase .
Maybe as a toy. They are not reliable and I have seen some of the crash tests which are horrendously bad. If you plan not to have it a long time it will be fine. You might be better off with a Mustang.
Interesting I see I'll keep that in mind thanks for taking the time to respond with some helpful tips.
I’d hate to see you spend that money and be disappointed later. In general, they are not reliable (see a link posted above), certainly not long term. Plus you got the electronics issues to deal with besides the mechanical stuff.
I guess if you were working on them yourself on just about everything, then maybe it’s OK to get. But who wants to repair their cars more than necessary?
