I have a pretty bad oil leak and I was wondering what will be the best course of action to fixing it? I believe it's coming from the valve cover gasket but I'm not really sure it seems to be all over the place.
Scottys got a vid on yiu tube about putting dye into oil when oil comes out you can see the dye or try cleaning the thick oil off running it and have a look to see if its seaping out any where if you think its the rocker cover just change the gaskit there not yhat expensive any way
There are many places that can leak oil on an engine. You indicate that it may be the valve cover gasket, so lets start there.
Are the valve cover bolts tight? Clean the area around the valve cover, then go for a drive. After your drive see if the area around the valve cover is oily.
Pull the PCV valve and make sure it's clean and functioning. A malfunctioning PCV valve will allow crankcase pressure to build up and cause oil leaks. The pressure has to go somewhere.
