Hey Scotty, earlier this week I asked about why my 93 Buick Regal was jerking and what it could possibly be. Well now it really started to act up and now has a weak starting no spark for a few seconds, rough engine idle, weak acceleration/power, and very jerky when really trying to accelerate. Makes ticking and hissing sounds with the smell of fuel and coolant, now what could that possibly be? I really like these old 3800s but it sounds like it needs to hit the Junkyard..
Thanks!
Regarding the smells, are your coolant and fuel hoses 30 years old? Is your water pump leaking? Radiator?
Have you tested compression to see if the engine is worn out? What you are describing could be caused by something as simple as a large vacuum leak, a clogged fuel or air filter, or a weak fuel pump. That car is decades old, the engine might be OK internally (you won't know until you check) but all the systems it depends on could have deteriorated over the last three decades.
It would not be surprising for a car that old to be ready for the crusher but you won't know that without some diagnosis.
