2009 Lincoln Town Car signature 95,000 miles on it no codes for the transmission no codes for the motor transmission shift from 1st and 2nd and goes into neutral on 3rd for your suggestions?
😟Phx Az. 09 town car 95,000 transmission (9W1Z7000ARM) no codes transmission shifts from first to second and then goes to neutral (shop said) I thought only 1st gear then coast. Over drive button/ light works. I got it up at the tranny shop they wanted to rebuild the transmission for 2,800 bucks what's your suggestion? Shop offer free diagnostic
Do you have a scan tool that's advanced enough to read transmission code?
The transmission may well be shot but I'd get another opinon, it could also just be something like hinky shift solenoids or problem with a computer module. Per Scotty, a lot of transmission rebuild attempts fail. If the trans is bad it would be best replaced with a factory rebuilt unit.

So first of all have a trusted mechanic check the car and make sure about what the issue is/if it actually needs a new transmission. Then see what the car is worth. Personally I wouldn't spend that kind of money on this car to change the transmission because you'll be paying for the mechanic to change the transmission too and it's just too much money.
