I just bought a 93’ Del Sol, 5 speed, 1.6 with 281,000. New transmission two years ago. The car was driven about once a month or less for the last year. The car has been running great until recently. It’s my daily driver. The car is idling low (close to 500) when I come to a stop. Sometimes it dies but I can get it started again. Other times the Ce light comes on and it acts sluggish and then kicks in and is fine. I changed the plugs, wires and distributor and rotor and a ton of carbon shot out the back. I’ve been told it could be the 02, or IACV or MAP sensor. I don’t want to start getting new parts without some advice. Help!
Check for OBD1 codes when the check engine light is on.
You might try a can of quality injector/fuel system cleaner in your next tank of gas. Sounds like injectors could be clogging up. Changing the fuel filter should also be next on your list.
