my 1994 Cadillac Deville engine rotate but wont start, if left to sit long enough it started once but once put into gear cut off immediately. Cant figure out what the problem is. Please help. it has V8 4.9L engine.
Since this is a pre-OBD car, you need to go over the basics; air, fuel, spark. One, or several of these is messed up. Start with the air filter. Next, check fuel pressure at the intake unit. Test for spark. I would then look through the miles of vacuum lines these vehicles have for leaks.
How many miles on it?
Actually a Tech2 scan tool would pull any available error codes or diagnostic information. (That's the GM factory scan tool from around 1992-2014. China-made clones are available for a few hundred dollars and there are mechanics who have them.) Still, hitting the basics first would be best. Check air and fuel filters, use some starting fluid to see if there's spark.
