'95 4Cyl Cressida burning oil and coolant

Hey Scotty, I bought a '95 Toyota Cressida with a 4 Cylinder carbureted engine and a 4 speed automatic, has over 400k kms (250k miles) for the equivalent of 1200$

It runs like a clock but burns about a liter of oil every two months and loses coolant. Should I attempt to fix it or just drive it till the engine fails and replace it?

The coolant you could probably do something about, as for burning oil, out of curiosity have you tried a thicker viscosity oil? I've heard it helps though I've never personally tried it.

I've seen Scotty warn against using heavier oil on an older car. I did use the solution you mix with water to replace the coolant and try to fix the head gasket seal. Hopefully it works but I'm not too optimistic on such an old car
