96 Suburban Noise

Hey Scotty from San Antonio!

No questions about my Chrysler Pacifica today!  I have a 1996 2WD GMC Suburban with the 5.7 350 and 232,000 miles. I take great care of this family-since-new SUV. I've replaced all the seals, new timing set while it was open, fuel injection spider, etc.  It runs like new EXCEPT - I have a noise coming from the rear leaf suspension area that only happens under load braking or sometimes a heavy pedal at very low speed.  My auto shop here, though good and honest, have been scratching their heads on this one, as there is nothing obvious under there making this noise. Thanks!

Here is a link to the video I took:

I hope Scotty sees this one.

Did they pull drums and check brakes?  Perhaps a broken spring and floppy shoes?  Doesn't really sound familiar to me so just a guess.

Well, I had it in to do brake adjustments a few months back. And they re-checked it last time I had it in, to no avail. I thought that possibly also, but they haven't found anything in the brakes yet. Plus, it was doing it before the brake adjustments, if memory serves.

It also does it going over those large speed bumps, which is also why I'm thinking not the brakes.

A loose brake shoe or even a broken bolt/spring or a loose backing plate could be a brake problem.  Maybe the adjuster fell out hitting a bump.  You have something flopping around, it seems to be in the rear hubs.

I hope Scotty sees this.

I hope so too. Like to get another experienced opinion on this. Fingers crossed...

UPDATE: OK, I'm bummed out. My auto repair shop called today and has given up on this one. I went and picked it up and brought it home, dejected. Help me Scotty-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!

Help Scotty! No help from my local shop. Any ideas?

Is there no one who can help me? Sadness...

have you check the differentials? they could be worn out but does it everytime when you accelerate or brake have u ever feel like its almost jerking, cause if so, it could be that

That sounds like worn, creaky spring shackles. Or the springs themselves. Try spraying some lube there and see if the creaking stops.
