Hey Scotty, I'm thinking about buying a 96 Camaro Z28 manual trans with 70000 miles. It's going to be my daily driver and was wondering if it's a reliable car.
Adding @mod_man to the discussion.
I would not advise it for daily duty. The Optispark ignition system is a real headache and can leave you stranded without warning, especially if you drive in wet conditions.
Weak suspension components, poor MPG, plastics cracking, electrical gremlins....I would look at a car that's better suited for eating up mileage.
Any recommendations mod man?
Honda Civic or Accord, Toyota Camry or Corolla...those are the "mules" that seem to take daily duty for many years.
Thanks
If the mileage is real, the car has been sitting. Opinions about those have been expressed all over the forum, like here. Usually such old cars are not advised as daily drivers.
It might be a fun project car or weekend toy, but not a daily driver.
