I’ve got a 99 solara I’ve self maintained for years, but I’ve got a problem somewhere in the rear suspention that’s driving me nuts.Sounded just like worn stabilizer bushings. I replaced them. No help. Replaced the bar its self, no help. Replaced all the struts, strut bushings and links, no help either. There is no lateral or vertical movement on the wheels when off the ground . Control arms and bushings are solid. Car is quiet on smooth roads but klunks on rough rough roads or abutment joints Please give me a clue. Love the car. Hate I can’t figure it out. HELP!

More often than not it's the struts themselves realize that the strut mounts requiring removing the back seats and side panels to access them they're kind of a pain to change out. And they are part of the struts for my experience that's usually what makes the noise in those as they age

Use this technique to pinpoint the source of the noise -
