Hello, I was wondering what is the best or a good scanner for around 1,000 bucks? I am a amatuer mechanic, i work on my cars and my friends cars. I want one that will give more info than the bluedriver but i don't plan to upgrade the software because most cars i work on are 2015 or older. Thank you for any suggestions.
Hello. Please try the "Tools" link at the top of this page. Scotty has some recommended scanners there.
When it comes to scan tools, you can’t go wrong with Autel. Scotty has and uses (including recently) the Autel Maxisys MS906BT, which has bi-directional control. However, it is $1,500+ tool from authorized Autel dealers. But that would be one of the best and one I hope to get some day.
For the majority of us, I strongly recommend the Autel Maxicheck MX808 which is about $400 - that’s the one I currently own. It’s a tablet and will scan parameters of ALL modules in the car. However, it does NOT have bi-directional control, which for me is OK right now.
One caution: If you do buy an expensive scan tool, I strongly recommend you buy from one of the company’s authorized dealers if you care about support, service, and warranty afterwards, and to make sure you don’t get scammed.

One place I recommend buying from: they are an authorized Autel dealer

Autel all the way.
