Hello, Scotty
My father is looking to buy a new mid-sized SUV. Do you have any recommendations? He's looking at a Toyota 4Runner, Highlander, Dodge Durango, and a Ford Explore. Are there other options he should consider? Any tip(s) would be of much help.
God bless and Thank you.
The 4Runner would be a great pick.
Skip the Ford....they have all kinds of issues with the redesigned Explorer. And Dodge....just no. The quality on those is terrible.
Highlander would also be a good pick, but I just like the 4Runner better. Especially if you're going to do any light offroading.
Avoid the Dodge Durango and Ford Explorer, especially if keeping the vehicle well past warranty and trying to hold onto it for as long as possible. Stick to the Toyota 4Runner, Highlander, and I would also like to add the Mazda CX-5 and CX-9. Mazda is in the Top 4 in quality/reliability so look at them as well.
The SUV market is rough right now in terms of longevity and overall reliability. Toyota seems to be the only manufacturer that is killing it with SUVs. Like above said, Highlander or 4Runner.
my opinion the Highlander is the beat overall SUV right now. But I wouldn’t hesitate getting one of the new Honda pilots either.
Please avoid the Ford and Dodge. Toyota Honda and Mazda would be good places to check out vehicles.
4Runner, if you do reside out of rust belt, … Highlander otherwise ( … phlunkin’ Toyota, … either does not know how to, or care enough to to just do it, that is, build rust resistant, durable truck frames! )
F.S.
… but if you decide to go with a 4Runner and do reside in the rust belt, you must - and I stress that - professionally rustproof the frame, in particular, … inside of the frame!
