Hi Scotty! /// Hi everybody!

Is it safe to install an oil cacth can in a 2001 WV Golf 1.6 16v petrol engine(AZD coded) car? Is it useful, or am I making more harm to the engine?

You can put one in but remember to check it and empty it.

Necessary? No. Insurance? Sure.

Alright, many thanks.

The one problem with catch cans is that people forget to empty them, they fill up, cut off the vacuum and next thing you know, your main seals are leaking.

Many thanks! I hope I could take care of it.

Why do you want to put one?

- Once after a long drive(9h), I just saw black oil spitted all over the throttle body, oil from the PCV.
- It happened to change the intake manifold and there was carbon build up at the intake of the 4th cylinder, which is the closest to the throttle body.
- and ofcourse is "eating" some oil, not too much but it is.. and because of this it is messing up the EGR valve and the oxygen sensors, I`ve replaced those a few times.
..so I thought it would be useful a catch can or..? I just want to help the situation somehow.
