2002 Lexus ES300 with 199,347 miles. I was driving in the snow yesterday and my ABS and brakes were working perfectly. I stop to get groceries and then the ABS and brake light both came on. I made sure my brakes are working correctly, which they are, but my ABS no longer works and my brakes lock up. Any ideas on if something was damaged or how to make the lights go away and have my ABS work again? I would feel a lot safer in the snow.
Well as ABIA systems are rather complex but you find a mechanic like me he puts on a scan tool and you can analyze it for codes to see if perhaps the sensor is gone bad there are many things that can make those systems go out. So start with the scan with a mechanic who knows what he's doing
Has your issue resolved? Sometimes driving in the snow it can build up and causing erratic abs sensor readings but once it melts it’ll work as it should again
R4nier mentions what I first thought of............an ice or snow build up on the sensor or an ice chunk finally pulled/broke one of the sensor wires. Time for a scan.
