ABS indicator still lite after installing new sensor and clearing code

'08 Nissan Rogue, only 45,500 miles on vehicle, original owner.  The ABS indicator came on after sliding on some ice here in N.E. NJ, then didn't go out.
My OBD2 code reader said it was my left front ABS sensor. I purchased a OEM after market from Amazon.
I had a difficult time removing the sensor and had to carefully drill it out. (b.t.w. I am getting voltage (9.8v) at the connection point behind the wheel well cover.
After installing new, and clearing code and test drive the ABS modulator is grumbling and pulsing the brake when applied.(OBD2 code still reading front left ABS sensor) ABS light comes on along with traction control and brake light. The car can stop normally, but my wife is afraid to drive it. Is there something I'm missing.
Thanking you in advance for your response.

Well Warren can you get damaged or the ring that the sensor picks up as it spins around could be damaged inside a lot of times you end up having to replace a hub assembly if they don't work
